The current common control methods of brushless DC (BLDC) motors, which mainly included the following ways.
- Voltage Control: Control the speed of the motor by adjusting the voltage of the motor. This control method is simple and direct, but it is less efficient because the motor may not maintain a constant speed when the load changes.
- PWM Control (Pulse Width Modulation Control): Use pulse width modulation technology to control the speed of the motor. By changing the duty cycle of the pulse signal, the average voltage of the motor can be adjusted to control the speed of the motor.
- Hall Sensor Feedback Control: Hall sensors are used to detect the position of the motor rotor to achieve precise motor control. According to the signal from the Hall sensor, the phase sequence of the motor is controlled so that the motor runs according to the set speed and direction.
- Sensorless Field-Oriented Control ( FOC Control ): By estimating the position and speed of the motor rotor, precise control of the motor is achieved. This control method usually requires the use of advanced control algorithms and signal processing technology, which can improve the efficiency and performance of the motor.
The core principles of each control method are as follows:
- Voltage Control: directly adjust the input voltage of the motor and control the speed of the motor.
- PWM Control: By adjusting the duty cycle of the pulse signal, the average voltage of the motor is controlled, thereby controlling the speed of the motor.
- Hall sensor feedback control: Use Hall sensors to detect the position of the motor rotor, and control the phase sequence of the motor based on the position information to achieve accurate motor control.
- Sensorless FOC control: By estimating the position and speed of the motor rotor, precise motor control is achieved, improving motor efficiency and performance.
